The following basic objects are recognised in vs | plus:
- Display element
- Input
- traffic stream
- Priority element
These basic objects are the basis of every vs | plus parameterisation. There are objects with which the elements of an intersection are mapped. These are
- Outputs: Signal groups and digital outputs are mapped in display elements.
- Inputs: Parallel detectors and serial telegrams are mapped as a detector (for the IT) or message point (for the PT).
With these two basic objects, vs | plus has an overview of what is being switched at the intersection and who is logging on. The traffic object in vs | plus is the traffic stream. It links the two basic objects output and input. With the information from the inputs, the traffic stream can switch the outputs.

To decide which of the traffic streams should be switched next, they are assigned to the priority elements. This base object is a container in which the traffic streams are grouped and these groups are prioritised against each other.
