The current status is important for processing traffic streams.

  • Red: In this case, vs | plus first checks whether one of the assigned detectors has recognised a request. If this is not the case, there are other indirect ways of requesting a traffic stream. One of these options is the green flag. With this flag, it is possible to request a traffic stream "by software". This type of request is equivalent to one made by a detector.
If there is a valid request, a traffic stream waiting time is started for each traffic stream. If the waiting time is already running, the system checks whether the conditions for the requests are still valid. If not, the wait time is cancelled and the traffic stream continues to wait for a new request.
  • Green: The assigned detectors are also checked here. The IT checks whether one of the detectors confirms an extension. If not, there are other indirect options for extending the green. This can be a "parallel extension", for example. The PT checks whether the registered vehicle is still present or whether it has check out in the meantime.
The decision is then made for each traffic stream as to whether it can extend its green. Whether it can keep the green depends on other criteria. One of the criteria is the red flag. It is the counterpart to the green flag. It can be used to define when the green of a traffic stream is cancelled and it is switched to red.

After this processing step, the status of the request or extension is clearly defined for each traffic stream. This sets the conditions for the next processing step.
